Meet Workabout- the new flex
marketplace on the block
NEWS / 15 JULY 2024
Workabout, the booking platform for flexible workspace, has just launched its flexible workspace marketplace, in a strive to make make flexible working easier and more accessible than ever before. Here’s everything you need to know.
As of today, Workabout’s new one-stop platform offers unparalleled flexibility, allowing users to book hourly and daily workspaces without the need for binding memberships or contracts.
Essentially, this is a new 'AirBNB’ for workspaces, with 500 high-quality local and city-based workspaces across the UK already onboard- think Landmark, Runway East, Bruntwood, Fora, Clockwise, Spacemade and more. The platform features a diverse range of hot desks, private offices, meeting rooms, co-working spaces, and event venues, all searchable by specific amenities to meet individual needs.
“Just sign up to the site for free, pay as you go, and enjoy the freedom to work your way”. An approach like this, is designed to cater to the needs of established businesses, start-ups, employees, and freelancers alike, providing a quick, efficient, and cost-saving solution for booking flexible workspaces.
As most flex ideas fashion, the concept of Workabout was born from founder and CEO Jeffrey Davidson's vision of adapting to post-pandemic work preferences. “There is a substantial demand for flexible working,” says Davidson. “The question is, as businesses, how do we efficiently evolve and adapt outdated work models to address this? The process of booking workspace was overly complicated. I felt there had to be a more efficient way.”
Davidson’s solution was to streamline the process through a user-friendly web and app platform, making booking a flexible workspace as simple as booking a cab or hotel. Indeed, embracing technology and a human-focused approach is key to finding the right balance between home and office work. “The pandemic opened my eyes to what is possible in business when you embrace technology and the flexibility it enables. Adopting new ways to work can bring huge benefits, making work more efficient with greater access to choice, opportunities, and cost savings.”
Fittingly, the Workabout group embodies the flexible ethos it promotes, with a central team working flexibly, yet collaboratively, from every corner of the UK. Chief of Communications, Ebony Ava Johnson, shares her personal experience: “I am a single parent living in a lovely but remote village in Lancashire. Workabout’s flexible ethos has given me access to an amazing job that would otherwise have been inaccessible to me because of my location. Flexible working has offered crucial support to our team members with families, and we can’t imagine working any other way now.”
The future looks promising for this self-seeded start-up, with plans to launch Teams and HQ workplace management SaaS tools later this year, alongside a global marketplace expansion. As expected, the list of workspace partners is continually growing, with the team working diligently to add locations in and around towns and cities to avoid long and unnecessary commutes.
