Spacemade brings Olympic spirit
to Brindleyplace with
innovative Climbing Wall
LIFE / 13 AUGUST 2024
After two weeks of record-making races and meme-worthy moments, the Paris Olympic Games have come to an end, but flex operator Spacemade is keeping up the momentum, having installed a unique Climbing Wall Installation at 10X Brindleyplace.
Spacemade’s innovative installation has no doubt elevated the Birmingham workspace. The climbing wall, located in the building's breakout space, forms part of the company’s broader mission to create dynamic, inspiring work environments that foster meaningful connections and alleviate the stresses of modern work life.
This is more than just a physical activity area, Jonny Rosenblatt, co-founder of Spacemade, explains: “We know that companies have to work increasingly hard to convince their employees to come into the office in today’s current climate, which is why it’s crucial to give people a reason to be excited about their workspace.”
The olympic-inspired installation serves to strengthen both muscles and teamwork. “We want to create an environment where teams feel motivated and inspired daily. The climbing wall isn’t just about physical activity; it symbolizes the challenges we face together. By climbing the wall during a mental block or a break, members can overcome personal obstacles, just as they do in their work, boosting morale and confidence.”
Beyond the physical benefits, the unconventional addition is seen as a tool for reducing stress and enhancing problem-solving skills. Jonny adds, “Work can be stressful, and it’s important to have healthy outlets that release tension. The climbing wall provides a chance to step away from the desk, clear the mind, and focus on something completely different, which is a great way to relieve work stress.”
Of course, the installation also aims to encourage office attendance, by offering an experience that is hard to replicate at home. “In today’s work environment, people need a good reason to come into the office. The climbing wall gives them something to look forward to—an experience that’s not just about work but about creating a vibrant atmosphere that makes you excited to be here,” says Jonny.
The new climbing wall at 10X Brindleyplace forms part of a broader suite of amenities offered by Spacemade across its various locations. These include fully equipped gyms, podcast studios, cafés, and screening rooms, all designed to support a balanced and engaging work environment.
